------------------------------------------------------------

The story.

The 531 came about because I had a piece of material that wasn’t going to work for V2 handles. I wanted an EDC pry bar. It let me test out the mill after I put a rebuilt spindle cartridge and spindle motor on it. I needed a little bit of a mental reset and I like making things.

Why’s it called the 531?

Because I’m horrible at coming up with catchy names and that’s the date I pulled it out of my head and put it into CAD to start the process.

Notes about it.

If you look closely at the face of the pocket under the name engraving, you will see the adaptive tool path showing through, then if you look at the corners of that pocket you will notice there is a little bit of material that doesn’t perfectly match and leaves a little shadow in the radius. These came about because I missed it in the programming on the first one (this started out just being for me, so I wasn’t bothered by it) after blasting and tumbling and carrying it around a little bit I decided that I kinda like it and it reminded me of reading about how Native Americans leave small flaws in their crafts for various reasons. First of all I’m not Native American and I’m not trying to co-op their culture but that’s always stuck with me. It’s a reminder that humans aren’t perfect, nature isn’t perfect and the universe isn’t perfect. Sometimes it does more good to see a flaw around you to remind yourself that it’s ok to not be perfect.

As always, we appreciate your support!
